How to Reset Your Microsoft Password Using Self Service Password Reset (SSPR)

Note: The new password must have at least 12 characters, 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, 1 number, and 1 special symbol.

Follow the steps below to reset your Microsoft password: 

1. After you enter your @swlaw email address and click Next, click on “Forgot my password” on the screen that prompts you to enter your password.
2. Insert your email or username, enter the characters in the picture, and click Next.
3. There are different methods of verification. You have the option to choose between these different verification methods if you entered more than one in your security information.
   • Method 1: You can choose Email my alternate email to verify:  
     • You will receive an email containing the verification code.
     • If the email does not arrive, wait for a few minutes, and check your spam/junk folder if it does not appear in your inbox.
     • Enter the verification code and click Next to proceed. 
     • After the verification is successful, you will be able to enter your new password.
     • Enter your new password, confirm it, and click Finish. 
     • You will get a confirmation screen when you have successfully reset your password. 
     • When your password reset is successful, you will be able to sign in with the new password by clicking on the “click here” link.
   • Method 2: If you choose to receive a text on your mobile phone you must enter the phone number that was saved in your security information and click Text. 
     • You will then receive a text message with the verification code. Enter the code and click Next.
     • After the verification is successful, you will be able to enter your new password.
     • Enter your new password, confirm the new password, and click on Finish.
     • You will get a confirmation screen when you have successfully reset your password.
     • When your password reset is successful, you will be able to sign in with the new password by clicking on the “click here” link.
   • Method 3: If you choose to receive a call on your mobile phone, you must enter the phone number that was saved in your security information and click on Call.
     • You will receive a call with instructions on how to verify your account.
   • Method 4: If you have the Authenticator App, use the code from the app for verification and click on Next.

     • Please note that the app refreshes the code every 30 seconds. 
     • After the verification is successful, you will be able to enter your new password.
     • Enter your new password, confirm the new password, and click on Finish.
     • You will get a confirmation screen when you have successfully reset your password.
     • When your password reset is successful, you will be able to sign in with the new password by clicking on the “click here” link.
